Frequently Asked Questions

When will XXX happen?
We are a small organization of volunteers so our dates shift each year, but in general:
  • Applications will be posted in early November for the following year's scholarships
  • Applications will be due by March 31
  • Scholarships will be awarded in June

Is there an article about your organization in some sort of paper of record?
Yes!  Funny you should ask.  Check out this article in the NY Times.

I'm not from the US, can I apply?
Unfortunately, we are only offering scholarships to US students at this time.

I'm already in college, can I apply?
Yes! While our focus is 4-year scholarships for matriculating High School seniors, we do award some one-year scholarships on a case-by-case basis, depending on our funding situation and applicants.

I'm in a Masters/PHD/Graduate program, can I apply?
Unfortunately, we are only able to provide undergraduate scholarships at this time.

Can our fundraising event/tournament/campaign benefit Gamers Helping Gamers?
Absolutely and we do some of these every year! Please contact us with details at info@gamershelpinggamers.org.

How important are the different parts of the application?
We review all the applications we receive carefully. We request a FAFSA because, as our name implies, our scholarships are need-based.

Do you accept applications outside of your annual schedule for special cases?
Unfortunately, we are not able to handle applications outside of our annual process. Maybe some day!
